Rampant Death

Lately, there have been rampant deaths here there. If its not caused by road accident, then its arm robber(s) or a thief caught and beaten to death by aggressive angry youth. Just about two weeks ago, I witness with my own two naked eyes, two thieves beaten to death and each tired against an electric pole for the police to come and pick them up. Just a week after, I heard on the radio another thief also beaten to death.

Not only it was sad to see two naked bodies lying dead but disheartening as well as these young guys could easily get something better doing with their lives if they could just sit, be patient and think about doing something better to gain a better source of living than stealing people’s hard earn properties and belongings.

Lest We Forget: When the rains came

A few months ago in August last year, a severe rainstorm hit the three Northen Regions (Upper East, Upper West and North) of Ghana.

The rains destroyed properties worth millions of cedies and displaced children and families in the regions concern.

There were weeks of flooding which impacted very negatively not only on the social landscape but on the economy.

The three Northern regions of Ghana supplement the economy with agricultural and farm produce which were washed down by the flood.

In pictures are some survivors and Victims of the unfortunate incident.

Many children were seen enthralled by the events and are helpless

In Bawku in the Upper West Region, the bridge that links the people of Garu-Tempane to the rest of collapsed

Districts Of Accra, Osu

Osu is a district in central of Accra, well known when it comes to entertainment, African goodies, best restaurants, expensive goods and services,where tourist usually hang outs and its night life. The two most popular restaurants in Osu are papaye( experts with fried rice ) and Frankies ( best place to buy ice creams or have your dessert ). For authentic Ghanaian Cuisine head for the Osu night market where local dishes like banku and kenkey (Made from corn meal) are cooked freshly and served with assorted grilled fish and prawns (all prepared while you wait) at a fraction of the price one would pay in restaurants.

There is a popular street in Osu called Oxford Street, If you’re a tourist in you ever visited Ghana and had the chance to be in Accra then its likely you went to Oxford Street. Well known for hosting street carnivals in Osu especially every 31st of December.

The Ohene Ddjane Sports Stadium, the main sports stadium in Ghana which currently hosted the just ended CAN2008 finals is located in Osu. Osu also habours the Osu Castel ( a colonial fort ) which host Ghana’s governments.

If you’re visiting Ghana and need entertainment, then head off to Osu anytime you touch down.

The Disappointment

The match ended 1:0 in favour of Ghana. Even though they won, much people where very disappointed because, they were expecting so much from them. They were expecting them to beat their Namibian counterparts by a slew of goals.

In the early minutes of the game, Ghana played so fast and aggressively, creating many changes but couldn’t make a good finish. The only goal of the game, came in the 41st minute by the golden leg of Junior Agogo who swiftly tap a long cross to the back of the net.

Ghana could have scored more goals, but they wasted all the chances that came their way.They where fortunate the Namibians didn’t couldn’t utilize the chances they had, they could have equalize or otherwise won the game.

With the highly disappointments from the black stars, you couldn’t hear jubilation all over like it was after the first Ghana match. This time, almost everyone was talking about the poor performance they exhibited especially with the inability to score more goals.

All bad words were on Asamoah Gyan because he had all the chances but couldn’t put the ball at the back of the net. He just plainly wasted them. The night is dull and everyone has gone to bed. Everywhere is quiet.

The Jubilation

There were jubilation all over just right when the match was about to start.
The streets parked with people. Nowhere to put your leg to have a comfort stand.
The football fever was just in the air.

After the match the jubilation continues and this time worsen. Cars blowing their
horns till the driver fills tired. Non stop noise the whole night.
People have to cancel their dates and movements because there was no space to move.

As you can see from the map, we share border with Togo on East, Ivory Coast on the West, Burkina Faso upper north.
